Description
Acebrophylline 50 mg, Guaiphenesin 50 mg & Terbutaline Sulphate 1.25 mg Syrup
This combination syrup is used to treat respiratory conditions, including bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It combines three active ingredients with complementary actions to provide effective relief from cough, mucus buildup, and bronchial spasm.
Composition:
- Acebrophylline 50 mg
A mucolytic and bronchodilator that reduces inflammation in the airways and promotes mucus clearance. It helps in relaxing bronchial muscles, making breathing easier. - Guaiphenesin 50 mg
An expectorant that loosens and thins mucus in the lungs, trachea, and bronchi. This facilitates the removal of phlegm by coughing and reduces chest congestion. - Terbutaline Sulphate 1.25 mg
A β2-agonist bronchodilator that helps to open up the airways in the lungs, relieving symptoms of wheezing, shortness of breath, and tightness in the chest.
Mechanism of Action:
- Acebrophylline acts by inhibiting phosphodiesterase and reducing inflammation in the airway.
- Guaiphenesin works by increasing the output of respiratory tract fluid, making secretions less viscous.
- Terbutaline Sulphate stimulates β2-adrenergic receptors, resulting in bronchodilation.
Therapeutic Uses:
- Asthma
- Chronic bronchitis
- Emphysema
- Productive cough
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
